Fall 2022: ODMC Book Study Groups
When: Fall 2022 - Meeting times to be determined by group.
Where: To be determined by group.
In response to the survey that Open Door conducted this spring, many people expressed an interest in participating in book study groups—either in person or via Zoom. We would like to facilitate the formation of these groups, with the idea that they will get organized over the summer and begin in earnest in September.
These peer-led groups of no more than 8 people will focus on a book that Chas has recommended: Gil Fronsdal’s The Issue at Hand: Essays on Buddhist Mindfulness Practice.
You can download a copy of the book from the Insight Meditation Center in Redwood City, CA (insightmeditationcenter.org). If you do, please consider practicing generosity by offering Dana to IMC. Of course, you can also purchase the book.
Participants will make a commitment to attend each meeting (until the book is completed), to keep confidentiality, and to follow guidelines for wise speech and respectful discussion. We recommend that you plan for each session to last a minimum of an hour and a half. We will provide optional discussion formats and guides.
If you have questions, please reach out to Jeri Sides at firstname.lastname@example.org. She will be collating the information and supporting the creation of the groups.
If you would like to join a book study group this fall, please complete this Google form by August 20.
