Topic: Understanding Judgment and Discernment

Understanding the difference between these two mind states is critical for our cultivation of the Eightfold Path–on and off the cushion. One we want to let go of, and the other we want to cultivate. But because they can feel so similar, we need to be clear about which is which, and how they manifest in our lives.

An important aspect of working with these mind states is coming to understand that practice includes both accepting things as they are and having a clear intention to let go of what’s unwholesome while cultivating what’s wholesome. We will explore this seeming contradiction in the meditation instructions, small group meetings, and the Dharma talk.

Retreat Details

Friday night will be an opportunity for in-person conversation and community building with each other and with Chas. On Saturday, participants may attend in person or over Zoom. We will observe Noble Silence throughout the day to support our practice.

After you register for the retreat, you will receive an email with further details.

NOTE: Please bring your lunch on Saturday; tea will be offered both Friday evening and Saturday.

There will be baskets for dana (check or cash) for our teacher and to cover the rent for the space ($350). You will also have the option of offering dana through Chas’ PayPal or Venmo accounts or here on our website.

We look forward to seeing you on December 16 and 17!
