Topic: Solstice Retreat with the Divine Abidings
For this daylong retreat we will explore what are traditionally called the brahma-viharas or divine abidings. The four states of loving-kindness, compassion, appreciative joy, and equanimity help to temper the flames of our habitual reactivity and keep us grounded. Engaging deeply with the divine abidings allows us to relate to the full spectrum of life. Our practice together will soften, open, and engage our hearts in alignment with the summer solstice.
During this retreat there will be periods of sitting and walking meditation, some with guidance and some in silence. There will be moments of relational practice within our sangha, group chanting, questions and responses, and dharma reflections. Together we will generate a field of warmth and care, support each other’s practice, and cultivate gifts to bring back to the world.
