Being Nature in Nature: A Three-Night Forest Retreat with Susa Talan and Amy Bird

When: Thursday, 8/27 – Sunday, 8/30, 2026

Where: 485 Chewonki Neck Road, Wiscasset, Maine 04578

Wilderness Support: Eli Hanschka

Join us for a three-night camping retreat in the coastal woods of Maine. Grounded in awareness and nature, this residential retreat on Chewonki land will include guided and silent meditation, movement with awareness, and practicing together in relationship with the natural world. Together we’ll deepen into what it means to be nature in nature – exploring how the movements of mind and body are as natural as the rhythms of the forest and the sea.

Additional Details

This retreat is limited to 12 participants. We will open a waitlist once all spaces are filled.

Base cost: $250/person, plus dana for teachers. All camping gear is available for a rental fee through Chewonki. Food is included in the retreat fee. Note: Fees are non-refundable after July 27.

A Note on Location + Accessibility

This retreat takes place on Chewonki land, about 50 minutes north of Portland. We will be camping in tents (ground and platform). Getting to the location of our retreat requires walking 0.3 miles (about 15 minutes) on a relatively flat trail through the woods.

More detailed information will be emailed after registration opens in late May.

Please contact Katie Mae Simpson if you have any other questions.
