Daylong Retreat on Dependent Origination: When This, That with Beau Demkar

"When this exists, that comes to be...When this does not exist, that does not come to be." — The Buddha

This deceptively simple teaching — dependent origination — points to something radical: suffering isn't random, and it isn't permanent. It arises from conditions. And when we no longer feed these conditions, something shifts.

This daylong retreat invites practitioners of all levels to explore this teaching through direct experience. We will work with simple and powerful practices that gradually untangle the habits of mind — ignorance, craving, clinging — that give rise to stress. We'll turn our attention toward what is present when those habits ease: a sense of freedom that's often closer than we realize.

The day will include sitting and walking meditation, relational and social practice, dharma talks, and open discussion. Moments of chanting/singing will nourish the heart and deepen our sense of community.

No prior understanding of dependent origination is required as the teaching will unfold through practice.
