Not Taking Things Personally: A Daylong Retreat with Susa Talan and Yenkuei Chuang

When: Saturday, July 11, 2026 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Where: Open Door

Life is constantly changing. Things don't always go the way we want them to. And much of what we experience arises from conditions beyond our control.

In this daylong retreat, we'll reflect on what the Buddha was pointing to when he taught that all conditioned experience is impermanent (anicca), imperfect (dukkha), and impersonal (anattā). Together we’ll explore how these truths and perceptions can help us take our experience a little less personally (and painfully)—with curiosity, interest, and care.

The day will include periods of sitting and walking meditation, dharma reflections, and opportunities for shared inquiry. All are welcome. No previous meditation or retreat experience is necessary.

Please contact Danielle Gorman if you need a ride, overnight accommodations, or have any other questions.
